Main Street Takoma Design Committee
The Main
Street Takoma Design Committee is working to enhance the
appearance and to increase the cohesiveness of Old Takoma.
Design Committee projects include:
- A storefront window display improvement program
- The Adopt A Tree program and an on-going landscape maintenance program
- Clean-Up Days -- April 19 and October 19, 2008
- Active trash and graffiti removal program
- Development of informational signage in Old Takoma in
partnership with the City of Takoma Park's Wayfinding signage
program, and
- Implementation of a facade improvement grant program for
business and commercial property owners with matching funds from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development.
The Design Committee meets the third Tuesday of each month at 6:00pm in the OTBA offices, at 6935 Carroll, Suite 207.
Main Street Takoma Economic Restructuring Committee
The goal of the Main
Street Takoma Economic Restructuring Commitee is to strengthen
Old Takoma's existing economic base while finding new ways
to expand it.
Committee projects include:
- Development of a comprehensive Market Analysis of Old Takoma
- Recruitment and retention of businesses
- Outreach to commercial property owners
- Establishment of a confidential ad hoc committee to advise new businesses, and
- Establish and manage a Revolving Loan Fund for businesses in Old Takoma.
The ER committee meets on the first Friday of each month at 7:30am at the Landis Building, 7059 Blair Road, NW, 3rd floor.
Main Street Takoma Organization Committee
The Main
Street Takoma Organization Committee is building consensus
and cooperation among the many groups and individuals with
a stake in Old Takoma.
Committee projects include:
- Development of informational materials
- Volunteer recruitment
- Development and maintenance of websites
- Outreach to Old Takoma businesses.
Main Street Takoma Promotions Committee
The Main
Street Takoma Promotion Committee is working to market
Old Takoma to customers, potential investors, new businesses,
local citizens and visitors.
Committee projects include:
- Junction Day/Earth Day, April 20, 2008
- Craft-A-Thon at the Gazebo, May 18, 2008
- Takoma Park Street Festival, October 5, 2008
- Repeat Rewards program
- Dog Days of Summe
