About Art Hop

Come to Takoma by metro, bike, car or on foot! Transportation info here. Grab an event map and performance schedule at a participating businesses or at the Art Hop Info Booth on the corner of Carroll and Laurel Avenues or print one here and here. Check out the Gazebo performance schedule and plan your day! (Click Event tab above).  Hop on the free Art Hop Trolley (Sat 12noon-5:00pm, Sun 10am-4:00pm) to get around.Explore the shops, check out the art, meet the artists and purchase original pieces!

Main event activities are on Saturday, between 11am-8:00pm and Sunday, 10am-5pm.

About:
Art Hop arts fest transforms Takoma’s main street into a neighborhood arts district.  The work of over 70 of artists is installed in the shops, restaurants, galleries and on the streets of Takoma – from Takoma Park, MD to Takoma, DC.  You’ll find painting, photography, mixed media, assemblage, fiber art, jewelry, glass, pottery, sculpture and more available for sale at a variety of price points. Take in one of the free performances or demos scheduled throughout the weekend. Hop on the free Art Hop Trolley to see it all!

Special DC Arts Studio Spring Open Studios, Saturday April 25th from 3pm-8pm.  Don’t miss this special opportunity to tour two floors of studios and purchase original art and hand-made items directly from the artists.

New art car parade down Carroll Ave on Sunday, April 26th starting at 10am and special Washington National Opera, Takoma Costume Studio Tour on Sunday, 1pm (20 participants only – get your free ticket: here ). Rock the Box Breakin’ Tournament

RockTheBoxSeal

Rock the Box – Sunday,  April 26th from 12noon to 5pm at the Takoma Park Middle School. Rock the Box Breakin’ was created to showcase the hip hop arts and pay homage to the artistic and technical aspects of Breakin’, while creating a platform for businesses to connect with our community.
The event will be part of the city of Takoma Park’s Art Hop Festival. The tournament will bring together kids from from across the country to compete in a 2vs2 Competitive Breakin’ Tournament™. Competitors must demonstrate control and dance abilities inside of “The Box” Competitive Breakin’ Arena. More info: here
