The ups and downs of the retail sector are difficult for the businesses and residents both, especially coming out of a recession.  We have all seen flurries of both Vacancy signs and new businesses notices along our Main Street business corridor.  To address a very challenging business environment, the Old Takoma Business Association (OTBA) commissioned a Market Analysis to research the retail market potential and gaps for " Main Street " Takoma Park (MD and DC).  The study identifies real challenges, but points to several potentially significant strategies for moving forward.  A second meeting on this issue will be held for the business community and interested public on Thursday, April 22 at 7:30 pm.  The meeting goal is to identify specific action steps that may be taken to sustain and improve the business environment.  Your ideas and participation for positive change are needed. The meeting will be held at the Capital City Cheesecake ( 7071 Carroll Ave , the location of the former Savory). Cheesecake and coffee will be available for sale.
